heart rate monitor not working- help please

I bought a sportline elite womens 660 HRM and it isn't reading my heart rate? It read it a couple times but it doesn't stay it just goes back to three blinking lines. I can't even start working out because it wont read my HR. Does anyone know how to fix it?

    Try changing the battery in it, if that doesnt work, I would take it back.
