How am I doing?

I'm just a week into this new venture and wanted to solicit thoughts on my diet. I've made my diary public so if anyone cares to review and comment it would be much appreciated!

A couple of notes. I didn't log it every day (didn't notice it at first) but I am getting my 64oz+ of water each day, that's in addition to my one guilty pleasure of the Venom energy drink (low cal).

I also know that I've been drifting a little low on calories for the past few days. It's actually getting kinda hard to get them all in. I do have a date night with the wife planned for Friday which I'll probably end up exceeding my budget on so hopefully it balances out. I mean to hit my budget but I kinda panic during the day when I realize I only have 500-600 calories for dinner, then end up under shooting. Last night I added a yogurt hoping to bring it up but it wasn't enough and I got to busy to eat something else.

Lastly, am I running too low on fat and is there any negative consequences to exceeding my protein by so much? Maybe I should trade out my protein shake for a different one with less protein?

Thanks all!
~Chris

    Hey...I'm a Chris too....

First thing that jumps out at me...and this will help you up your calories too. More fat. You're pretty low on your fat. You want to watch sat fats and optimally no trans fats, but you need some more heart healthy, good fats. A mere 2 Oz of Almonds would give you 320 extra calories and lots of good heart healthy fat, protein, and potassium.

I would also recommend manually adjusting your macros...more protein, less carbs...and up the fat just a bit. I don't really advocate for "low carb" diet or anything, I've just found that I do a lot better in the 40c/30p/30hf ratio...actually if I'm anywhere between that and 50/25/25 I feel pretty good. Something to consider and play with.

How much exercise are you performing? Because if you are doing both cardio as well as weight training then you will need the extra protein. Helps with lean muscle mass. The question I do have is about the breakfast. Are you taking into account the calories from the dairy? Or is that already added into the totals that you show?

    Thanks for the responses guys.

Chris, as far as the healthy fats and adding in Almonds I like that. My question is do you think unsalted cashews would be good enough? I've always heard that almonds are THE best but maybe cashews (which I actually enjoy) are good enough? Before when I went through all this I'd take my snack portion of cashews and put them in a zip lock and restrict myself to only eating what was in that zip lock. If I let myself loose on the whole can I'd eat them all almost sub consciously. lol

Big, at the moment almost nil. I just started my running on Sunday, then the weather went to hell. I plan to start Insanity on Monday, we'll see if I stay true to that. Either way I've got a Warrior Dash scheduled for March 16th that I'll be doing. At this point I'd survive it but would like to do a little better than that so I'm gonna have to get moving on the physical front. Regardless direct weight training is out for the time being so... not as much of a protein requirement?
