Stairs/Steps Question

QUESTION - A co-worker & I go up and down the stairs at work for a work day workout. MFP only has two activities in exercises related to "Stairs". A stair master (ergometer) & aerobic steps. Now if I do 5 minutes of up & down 5 flights of stairs I feel like I burn more than the 58 calories burned for the aerobic steps but dont know if it's quite up to the 150 for the stair master. Who do I track this? Thoughts?

I think you are probably close to the stair master... But you can always buy a heart rate monitor to wear. You can get them for as cheap as $30 and see how many calories you burn through the day and on the stairs.0

Agreed, 58 calories sounds more accurate to me too.0

Are you running or walking the stairs?
Ten minutes would be better. At five, you are barely getting warmed up.0 -
When I was getting fit for my wedding 6 years ago, I walked up 13 floors of stairs in the morning, down at lunch, up after lunch and then down at the end of the day. I got to be in VERY good shape with this. It can pay off, but you need to do enough of it to add up (probably more than 5 minutes.) Don't be afraid to go up and down several times. As for counting the exercise in MFP, look under WALKING, UPSTAIRS. It counts as approximately 10 calories per minute.0
