Usually under my calorir goal, but not hungry

OK, so I'm on a low Carb, gluten and dairy free diet. Been on it since Dec. 1 and feel better than I ever have. I'm eating well and not depriving myself of food, but most days I still don't meet my calorie goal. It is set for 1200. I'm eating a lot of protein and red meats as well as a pretty good variety of fruits and veggies. My low days, I feel full and very have little desire to force myself to keep eating. My food journal is open, so I look forward to opinions and tips.

I have the same issue. The advice I received that works the best is to eat a higher calories high protein breakfast shake in the morning. The days I do that I get all my calories and then some. Also I make an effort to eat.. Meaning I actually remind myself to eat lunch and dinner and I put healthy snacks on my desk so I can see them at work, so i don't forget to eat. I did really good today. I've been doing better this year then last. It's still a struggle.

Wow! Your diary is like the opposite of mine! I usually don't meet my protein goal.

I'll do it if I have to, but I hate having to force myself to eat when I'm not hungry.

If you feel great don't worry about it. I'm eating a grain free diet as well and I feel better than ever and am not hungry most days. Just know that sometime if you're really hungry go ahead and eat even if it takes you over. It will balance itself out :-)

I'm wondering this, too. It sounds good!

As for advice, choose foods with higher calories. Eat more nuts/nut butters, etc.

Calorie dense food. For instance, I usually eat for breakfast oatmeal with peanutbutter and banana mixed in, and it's around 400 cals. It doesn't seem like alot of food when I eat it, but it helps me reach my calorie goals for the day.

Also, having nuts as snacks help, too. I love pistachios. You don't have to eat alot of those either and you're still getting a good amount of calories.

On days I work out and need to add a lot of calories back, I drink a protein shake.

You know I looked back and some days you are under some days and some close and some over. I do not think you are too crazy under. I think you are fine,,, maybe just add some fresh fruit or even almonds to make up the difference.

I usually tweak the recipe depending on what we have available that day. I always use black Angus beef, but usually add carrots,it broccoli, cauliflower, bell peppers, mushrooms, onions, and sometimes a can of tomatoes. I'll also toss a few dashes of soy sauce and warchestshire sauce in. Once I tossed in a jalepino pepper in with the beef while it cooked (in coconut oil) and OMG it was awesome!
