    Hi Shann,
I've been wondering the same thing and came across your post! I fell off the MFP bandwagon a while back and I've just gotten back on. Anyway, I've never been a big breakfast person, but I'd always find myself over eating at lunch and dinner. Recently I've started eating some sort of healthy breakfast whether I'm hungry or not. I keep healthy snacks at my desk and eat around 10 when I get hungry again. That usually holds me over till 1 or 2 when I break for lunch. What I've found is that I'm not very hugry for the rest of the day and at most I have a snack around 6 or 7. Plus I'm forcing myself to drink water throughout the day (no more soda or coffee for me). Anyway, I really hope this helps someone out there, especially for someone like me who used to over-eat at lunch and dinner.

On a side note, I've been trying to drink more juices for the health benefit, but I'm finding there is a ton of sugar in those drinks. Anyone know of a healthy drink that doesn't have a ton of sugar? Suggestions are much appreciated! Thanks

    Dan

Add a splash of juice to your water it makes it taste different and adds a change.

for me what worked was measuring all my portions and weighing my food. I found out a portion size was a lot smaller then i ever thought it was, so i was eating way too much!

I eat the same stuff just smaller portions. I have added a few new things that are healthier and taste great. i also eat a small breakfast now around 9 or 10 of oatmeal or egg/muffin.. then a bigger lunch couple hours later.. I usually do cardio in between the two meals so I am starving when I am done.

And I lift weights..helps huge with body definition.

Everything works if you don't give up. When something gets boring or hard to stick with change it!

I bought a scale and learned what a true portion size is. My ideas of what was a proper serving size was completely warped.

I weigh or measure 98% of what I eat.

    I log everything I eat.

I don't use the calories burned that MFP gives for exercise, I think they're almost always way higher than my actual burn.

When logging calories burned, I underestimate the number.

I work out at home, either on my treadmill or power walking the hills around my house. Gyms aren't for me and I have purposely chosen not to do workouts that I either can't keep doing for years, or that I know I would burn out on doing. I want my exercise to be realistic, something I can do 6 days a week without feeling like it's a chore.

I always net over 1200 calories.

I only weight myself every 14-15 days, I don't want to obsess over the number on the scale.

I don't talk about my diet and exercise to friends and family. If they ask how much I've lost I tell them, but other than that I don't talk about the changes I've made.

I'm 7 months into making healthier food choices and being realistic about exercising. I've lost 62 pounds so the above are some of what has worked for me. My diary is open for anyone to see.

Great post! Thanks for sharing :)
  • What finally worked for me (after 5 years of yo-yo dieting) was switching to a primal/paleo diet. I do intermittent fasting and eat two meals a day. I always eat around 1300 to 1400 calories and stay away from wheat like its a poison. I had PCOS and insulin resistance so initially I was worried about fasting, but it turns out it works amazingly well and I'm now at a healthy weight as proof. I lost 40 lbs with just food changes and now do bodyrock and sprinting for building muscle. I'll be lifting the heavy weights soon.

I made a health and fitness group on Facebook and invited some like-minded friends to join me on my health kick. The support, motivation and accountability I get from having this great network at my fingertips is better than anything else I've ever done. Sometimes we are only as good as our cheer squads.

If anybody wants to join just message me and I'll give you the info.

Found out I have PCOS, Insulin resistance and allergic to gluten. After months of working with doctor/tests a low carb diet was the only way I lost any weight :) I eat clean and I guess it would be close to a primal/paleo diet. I stay away from foods that have a high GI number and far away from sugar! I eat my BMR or above and exercise :)

I am blessed to have a FANTASTIC support system, both on MFP and literally around me! Actually, MFP has became a family thing! My Brother, his soon to be wife, my Step Father, and two best friends are active members as well!! :)
