Signed up for my first (EVER) 5-K

I've signed up for my first (EVER) 5-K. The Color Me Rad 5-K (www.colormerad.com/)

I don't run. I've never ran. I've been working out for about 2 months and I do cardio but I do the elliptical and not really at a fast pace (but I monitor my HR and it's always above target).

What. Have. I. Done. A group of co-workers are doing it and one has done an amazing job, lost like 100lbs, if not over 100lbs in about a year and a half. Of course lately I've been sick so I've slacked some the past week or so. But will be getting back to it when I get off in the a.m.

I'm reading over the Couch to 5-K. Can I do this? I'm not fit. I'm not in shape. That's the whole reason I'm on MFP and trying to work toward getting in shape. It's in April so I know I have time.

Anyone else ever turned from a never runner to doing a 5-K?

YOU CAN DO IT! I just signed up for my first 5K race as well, mine will be in March. I started the C25K program last week and so far I'm really enjoying it. I am by no means a runner. I used to hate running, however that was when I was being yelled at by a PE teacher. Now, doing this program, I go at my own pace. If you feel you can't do Week 1 Day 1, start off easier. Instead of jogging 1 minute, walking 1 1/2 minutes, jog for 30 seconds and walk for 1 1/2 minutes. Ease yourself into the program if you're finding it too difficult. But don't give up! If I can do it, you totally can too!

PS - Invest in a good pair of running shoes and a good bra! Your body will thank you =)

You can definitely do this! Start slow, follow the couch to 5k program, and listen to your body.

Running can be very rewarding - have fun with it :)

You can do it for sure! And signing up for a 5K is a great motivation to stick with the program. I'm in my final week of C25K with my first 5K race coming up on Saturday. I did it in 7 weeks instead of 9 and before that I have never run.
