Having a Difficult time

Hello all
I am in need of a venting moment. My stress level is through the roof and as a result, my diet and exercise is falling waaaay behind. I come home uber exhausted from really bad days at work. Luckily I have a sweet understanding hubby that has been great about cooking every night this week. Yay me!!
I haven't been exercising due to my lack of time/energy. My diet has been horrible due to a lack of time (this week I haven't had a lunch) or a lack of will power. I have been feeling really blahh. It started this weekend and I haven't been able get out of this funk. i hope that I can. I took my blood pressure levels with my monitor....yeah..It wasn't good!! It was REALLY High for someone my age. I got on my scale...against my better judgement...and I have gained 4 pounds AGAIN!! I really need to get it together.
Any suggestions?

You can do this. Don't let a bad week stop you. I have similar struggles to what you described. i try to make me breakfast and lunch the night before or buy healthy options that are easy like smart ones paninis and individual green giant steamed veggies. Also i found I feel much better if I exercise, it reduces my stress. I have found that exercising in the morning can help because then it's done and you don't have to think about it and it's a small victory to start the day. You can do this!0

I know how ruff it can be when life gets stressful. i know for me I am hardwired to eat when I'm stressed or frustrated. So I eat than feel bad so eat some more. It takes time and practice to break the cycle but you can.
I pray a lot and it helps me. I exercise and take my frustrations out on the eliptical. I also notice when I dont work out I bring my problems home, so now I dont feel guilty about going to the gym even durring a time crunch evening because if I dont my poor family is stuck with me....
Good luck you can do this and it really is all about you....weight loss starts and ends in your head. YOU CAN DO IT!!!0 -
Sorry to hear about all the stress you are experiencing.. Sometimes we have to take time for ourselves before we can give time to anyone else..At the end of the day it's about loving yourself before you can love anyone else.
Maybe you can look into meditation or taking/doing something "stress free" for yourself, Belly dancing classes etc.
Or maybe this week you focus on one thing at a time, perhaps your eating.. or what you find the #1 most important thing to YOU right now. This will help you to focus your energies on one thing at a time.
We are all on a journey, and this journey isn't a race..Be easy with yourself and take it one day at a time. You WILL get to your goal! Keep pushing!:flowerforyou:0 -
My suggestion is to not get down on yourself for having one bad week. The only thing you are in control of is yourself and if there are outside stressors at work, just remember that you need to let someone else worry about that. Only worry about what you can do. And if you can't exercise this week, then that's ok. I noticed you like to crochet, sing, etc. If those things will help decrease your stress, then do those until you are ready to exercise again. I know knitting can be a huge stress reliever for me because it doesn't take any brain power and when I'm done, I have a physical thing that I've completed. Ask your wonderful husband to make a little extra dinner so you can take it to work for lunch the next day. And stay off the scale! It can't give you any helpful information right now.0

You have your husband's support, so that helps, but you have to make time for YOU. If you can't take time to get away from your workplace to have lunch. Pack something healthy. Start the day off with a good breakfast so you won't be dragged down halfway through your morning.
And in regard to your hesitancy to go on BP meds (no, not a mindreader--I cheated & read your profile) I warn you I am about to jump on my soapbox. I have a simple question. If you end up sitting in a chair being waited on due to having a stroke because you didn't control your blood pressure, will you still feel the same way about meds? I know, that is a little harsh, but I went on BP meds because I had high BP and a history of stroke (and diabetes) in my family.
At the time, I weighed a little more than I do now, but I was not in as good a shape. I was lucky enough to find MFP in April of last year, and have had great success losing and keeping weight off. My loss has slowed a bit since the first of the year due to an injury that is still affecting me, but at the beginning of December 2009, my doctor reduced my BP meds by 75%, and I expect to be off them completely by the middle of 2010, when I am down another 20 - 30 lbs. from where I am now.
I just saw a neighbor for the first time since he had a stroke. It was not a pleasant experience. His personality appears to have changed, and he is experiencing speech problems, as well as impaired balance and motor skills. I would not wish this on anyone--particularly a 24 year old woman with a lot of life to look forward to. You mentioned you work in a stressful environment. All the more reason for you to take control of the situation and take care of yourself, and if that means taking meds for a time, then I suggest you do it. When you are at a healthier weight, your doctor will be happy to take you off of them.
There are several different types of meds. I suggest you do some internet research to find out side effects, and other info about the different types so you can have an informed discussion with your doctor.
This may not have been the answer you expected for the question you posted, and I admit to being a little one-sided about the subject, but if you get nothing else out of my post, --remember to TAKE CARE OF YOU!!!0
