Is This a Good Breakfast Shake?

Would this make a good breakfast shake? Please, feel free to throw out suggestions. But I go 6 hours from breakfast to lunch, and I don't have a break to eat a snack in between. Therefore, I need to have something that's lasting. That's why I emphasize on the protein, and I will try to get some fiber.

Anyways, protein shake idea:

2 scoops protein powder (30 calories- 10 or 15 grams protein)
6 oz. Vanilla Yogurt (80 calories- 5 or 6 grams protein)
1/2 banana (60 calories- we have big bananas, LOL)
Two ice cubes
2 oz 1% milk (30 calories- 3 grams protein- and my family won't drink skim milk)

It totals to about 200 calories (give or take a few), and I will have a piece of whole wheat toast for more fiber. =)

I like my smoothie to be:
-Cold
-Thick
-Creamy
(LOL, basically a milkshake)

Anyways, sorry for the ramble, but do you think that shake and piece of toast would be a sustainable breakfast? I usually have about 20-30 minutes to eat breakfast, but I like smoothies a lot. =D

It sounds yummy, I may try it tomorrow morning!! I have a smoothie every morning, a scoop of slim fast powder, a banana and 8 oz of skim milk blend all together and drink, quick and easy!! I love them and I sometimes drink them as a dessert with some cool whip on top!

I make the same thing and add a tablespoon of natural almond or peanut butter. That really gives it lasting power and tastes awesome. However, the breakfast that keeps me fullest the longest is a bowl of oatmeal (a few blueberries on top) with scrambled egg whites.

Sounds really good!! However you might be a little light on calculating the calories...1 scoop of protein (about 10 g protein) would run around 90 calories if its unsweetened; 180 for 2. Think your smoothie might be closer to 350 calories, which is just fine, and a great breakfast. You might consider adding a half scoop of ground flaxseed and some frozen blackberries or other fruit in place of the ice cubes to get some great fiber, Omega 3's, and phytonutrients. That will give you about 8 grams of fiber (about 1/3 of what you need for the day) as opposed to 1 or 2 for your whole wheat toast. I use the cold-pressed pre-ground flaxseed which is shelf-stable, BTW.

Try out this website for smoothies. There are also a few apps you can download for your iphone or ipod touch.
