Fat burning workouts sans running?

I have bad lower back/hip pain I'm working with doctors to treat but I'm able to run/elliptical etc. What alternatives can I do to burn fat? Ive been so discouraged with being in pain for so long and knowing I can't run makes it worse. Don't have a pool. Any ideas thoughts or words of encouragement?

Can you walk? If you can walk, I've found that walking briskly on hills / doing incline intervals burns as many calories as running/jogging at a moderate pace does. You will have to work up your endurance with the hills/inclines, but you will get good results if you put in the effort.
In reality, anything you can do to burn more calories than you take in is going to help you burn fat. No one specific exercise targets fat. I've lost quite a few inches and pounds and until very recently did walking alone as my exercise.0 -
A little. Even walking for more than a few minutes causes pain. I realize that makes things difficult but I need to do something!0
