Jacket/oven-baked potato

Just had one for dinner, weighed it cooked at 302grams. Trying to log it but there are varying calories from 240 to 400 ish.

This is with no topping, just potato, cooked with no oils or anything weighing 302 grams.

How many calories would you log for it?!

Weigh another one raw and log it as that. I'd say about 240 kcals, 100g raw potato is about 80 kcals.

thanks, ill log it as 300 to be safe, i have calories left anyway but i wanted to know how much pudding i can have lol!

i only had one potato and i ate it lol but ill weigh before next time too.

    Thanks :)
  • Easy solution! Pick whichever one you want to use that makes sense as far as nutrition info is concerned. Then do some calculator work - I'm always with my calculator in the kitchen for this exact issue. I.E. Your cooked potato weighs 302 grams, but the item you chose gives nutrition info for a 240 tater. Just divide 302 by 240 and you get 1.25833. You'll then enter this into MFP as 1.25 servings.

thats asuming im remotely competent at maths! Which im not haha but ty

My mum always told me potatoes were really bad for you, high calories but i don't think they are that bad? Had it with a tin of tuna and light mayo was filling and tasty!
  • Potatoes are much more nutritious than once thought. I think it's what people park on 'em that make the spuds bad. For my potato, I break up the cooked spud and add 1 tablesppon of good-for-you olive oil (helps fight belly fat) and then add 1-2 tablespoons of balsamic vinegar, which saves on adding salt but adds flavor and helps hunger (or whatever it is that balsamic does for ya - brain freeze now).

Also, good for you are sweet potatoes. When in doubt of a veggie's nutritional value or worth, just think back to how our ancestors lived and then remember that if it worked for them, then it must make sense, otherwise none of us would be here today ;-)
