Donating Bone Marrow

First off, sorry for putting it in this section, but I didn't really know where else to put it.
Ok, so has anyone on here donated bone marrow or know of someone who did? I am doing some research right now, because it's something that I'm really considering. A friend of mine did it recently. She joined the donor registry at Be The Match to see if she was a match for a close friend of hers who has leukemia. She wasn't but she was a match for someone else, and she ended up donating.
Now, it's really got me thinking and I feel almost compelled to do this, too. To think that a few days of pain/discomfort for me could actually prolong and possibly end up saving someone's life has really got me wanting to do this. I just want to know more about something before I do it. I will continue to do research, I just wanted to see if anyone on here has experienced it personally.

I have signed up for the Be The Match as well, I also donate blood/platelets as much as I can. I try to at least once a month. I don't know anyone that has done the bone marrow donation, but lots of love to anyone that has. It's an awesome thing to do!! And I think saving or helping someone through it would be worth any pain or discomfort only momentarily for us. :happy:0

Check out DeleteBloodCancer.org. They've got some information about what happens if you become a match. There are two ways you can donate marrow. They have a video that walks through the two procedures. I believe most donations now happen via an apheresis procedure which is similar to donating platelets or blood.0
