Workout Advice

I'm new here and new to working out. We're members of a gym that has a pool and full facilities. My husband will take the kids to the pool and I'll go upstairs and walk the track, run a few times around, do some strength training machines and occasionally ride a bike - then I go join them in the pool for play.

I have no idea what I'm doing and want to be doing the most beneficial thing for losing the weight and toning up.

I've got 30 pounds to lose - any advice on what I should be doing would be appreciated - thanks!

This is a good program if you know what you are doing and proper form.

You may benefit from a few sessions with a personal trainer to get to know the machines, proper form and get some routine ideas. Then I'd move on to Jamie Eason's LiveFit Trainer or New Rules of Lifting for Women.

New Rules of Lifting for Women (NROLFW) is great for any stage and the book is a quick read (took me 3 nights at 60-90 minutes each night) and it will gives you nutrition info/recipes, calorie needs, break downs of the moves and it's not a dull book. The authors are very smart and funny.

What your doing now sounds well rounded. Heavy weights/strength training & running are 2 of the best ways to see results fast & as for some kind of regimine you could check out www.Bodybuilding.com they have quite a few different workout plans & recommendations for a virtual trainer etc. Good luck!
