Does anyone have idea's what I should bring for an 8 hour road trip. I would prefer to skip the restaurant and not be snacking the whole time but actually have 2 meals in the car.

    apples
    baby carrots
    baked pita chips
    grapes

but i could use other ideas too!!

    or pita sandwiches
    carrot sticks
    apple
    water
    trail mix

... I'm sure there are other things I just can't get out of my head at the moment. :flowerforyou:

What I do when we travel is look up what I can have at a restaurant and then I insist that we stop at THAT restaurant. So we just went to Massachusetts and there was a Wendy's nearby so I looked up all the nutritional information on their website and found that I could have a small bowl of chili and a double stack cheese burger (I think I really wanted a cheese burger that day). I asked them to prepare it with no salt and they did. Another option would be a grilled chicken sandwich and a caesar salad with no croutons. I avoid McDonald's at all costs but I've found great stuff at Taco Bell in their drive thru diet thing.

As for snacks, I LOVE the quaker rice cakes. They come in packs that are 90 calories and they taste great. Also the Special K fruit crisps - but they aren't very filling.

    Have a great trip!

Pack sandwiches, fruits and veggies, nuts, water, etc. Anything you would normally eat, that doesn't need to be heated or cooked. Throw it all in a cooler with some ice packs and off you go. Snacking the whole time is a good thing, just so long as you know what and how much you are eating.
