I want to go back to Philmont

I've always had a weight problem. I grew up with euphemisms like 'husky', 'stocky', 'big boned' ect. 10 years ago I drooped a lot of weight with the help of Meridian (pharmaceutical meth). I don't think I slept a whole night that entire year LOL. I was down to 225 and that worked for me.
At that time I was very active backpacking, canoing, camping, hiking ect. I packed over 100 miles in the San De Christo mts twice. I did 7 backcountry treks in the Boundary Waters and Canada. I sailed in the Keys. I stayed relatively fit but the weight crept back on.
Then in 2007 I broke my leg in the Canadian backcountry. I've only been back to the North woods once since then and the weight really came on strong.
I got very complacent with the weight. I decided that I liked myself the way I was and I was okay with that. Really I still am. However now I am more concerned about long term health risks. I currently take meds for high blood pressure. My cholesterol and sugar are okay but I fear that may change some day.
On hitting middle age I started looking at how much time I may have left. I started doing the math to see when I might reasonably die. I realized that there were other milestones that I might not see if I didn't do something.
So this is my first serious attempt to get 'back in shape' in 13 years.
