Stress Eating over Lost Bracelet

I am sitting here feeling sick to my stomach. I have lost my white gold/diamond bracelet my husband gave me for my birthday last month. I told him the catch was defective, but he blew me off. I put it on today & went out to run errands before a therapy appt. At the doctor's office I sat down, took off my coat and noticed it was gone. I have called all the places I was at, left my phone #, walked up and down the street in those places, tore up my car, to no avail. This has stressed me out so bad I started binging and binging on food. I just want to go to bed and cry.

Go ahead and cry.
And don't beat yourself up about binging. It's one day.
So sorry you lost your bracelet. There is still a chance it will be found.0 -
I am sorry about that. I lost a ring over a year ago and I know how I felt. Your probably kicking yourself to continue wearing it even though you knew it had an issue. I hope it comes up somewhere but most ppl are just not honest.0

I never talk about religion in public but...
Pray to St. Anthony to find your bracelet and you will find it.
I'm sick just thinking about what you are going through. Good luck.0 -
i just lost a ring my husband got me when he was deployed. its extremely unique and cannot just buy another like it. I wore it on my thumb and never ever took it off not even in the shower and lately it has been slipping off. But my daughter found it last time. This time I havent found it yet, though I just lost it last night I am still upset. I have a knack for losing jewelry and having the luck of finding it weeks to years later.. even in the middle of a city weeks later (so odd but it was there!). So my husband and my bests are assuring me it will be found it again with my luck. Try to hold yourself together and not go for the food but yes, you can certainly be upset about it but dont lose up or your weight loss success to food. B/c then you would have lost the weight battle and your bracelet!0

That's the worst feeling. I hope it turns up. :flowerforyou:0

It's not your fault. Your husband will understand.
I can recommend for the next time to do insurance. I only have 1 piece of expensive jewellery but I got it insured.0 -
Well, I was raised Catholic and praying to St. Anthony always helped. I lost my diamond ring and 30 mins later found it in my friend's driveway. I lost a gold bangle in Macy's and somebody turned it in. I lost a gold earring while in Hawaii and found it stuck to the bottom of my shoe when I was home in NY. Most recently, I lost my birthstone earring I had since I was 18. Security found it at my job....on the crazy patterned carpet. I have no idea how that happened! I lost an earring and about 3 months later my coworker was fiddling with something at his desk as we were talking. He said he found this earring and didn't know who it belonged to...it was mine.
So, positive thoughts. It will turn up! It will turn up! Call every place you went to and call again tomorrow.
We can be supportive and say feel your emotions and don't eat them, but let's get real...one night of blowing it will not wreck everything. Start fresh tomorrow. The positive thing is that you realize ywhy you are reaching for food and next time you'll handle stress differently.0 -

I've also lost jewelry before and somehow they usually turn up. I had my mom's 1 caret (each) diamond errings she left each of my newphews after she died. Since they were too young I had them and wore them on occasion. I lost one and it turned up months later in our dryer vent. That scared me so I made sure to send the stones to my brothers for safe keeping. The one had the stone made into a ring for my engaged nephew. A marriage that lastest 3 months and she got the ring.
I lost a diamond erring my husband gave me for my 50th b'day, about gave up on finding it only to find it under my bedroom dresser. I have little hope of finding the bracelet as I know I lost it while out running errands, but have said a prayer to St. Anthony. Right now I'm just sitting here feeling numb. I think my husband is feeling guilty for not listening to me when I told him I thought the catch was defective. We both drove around the streets even stopping by the post office and talking to a postman picking up the mail out of the box I had dropped my mail at. The postman even opened up the box to see if it had fallen in. At least I stopped eating.0 -
Give your coat a good shake and turn the arms out as well...check the pockets and if you wore a scarf, have a close look at it to make sure your bracelet didn't catch in the fabric.
edit to add: tie a piece of pantyhose over the end of your vacuum cleaner pipe and vacuum over and under the front and rear seats of your car. Bracelets have a way of slithering into unlikely spaces.0 -
Oh Mary -- my heart hurts for you. Don't give up faith and please don't beat yourself up over the eating. It happens to all of us at one time or another and the best thing to take away from all of this, is that you understand how the situation impacted your eating. Recognition in these situations is everything.
I'm crossing my fingers for you.0 -
I never updated this post, but we went into the store where we purchased the bracelet. They felt really bad and gave us 70% off a new one. My husband bought it for me and this time I made sure the catch worked correctly. I'm not afraid to wear it either. I still will occasionally glance thru items or the strees looking for the lost one.
I'm so bad. I lost my $100 heart rate monitor many months ago never to find it. I purchased a new one about 6 weeks back and this time I tried to put it back in the same place (my bedroom drawer), but lo and behold didn't I lose that one. I found it yesterday in the middle of my workout clothes. This is not good for my self-esteem. I'm still looking for my prescription glasses. Right now I'm using drug store reading glasses, which are ok, but frustrating to lose the good ones. Yesterday I found an extra pair of the cheap reading glasses on my bookshelf. I blame it on my ADD. I'll look and look for something and in a few minutes my husband will find it right in front of my face. Yikes, what to do with myself.0
