BMR Q

harris-benedict BMR: 2270

Katch-mcardle BMR: 1303

Guh?

I got these numbers based on the Fat2Fit website I just recently saw a link to here (the "military body fat" calculator and whatnot). With two outrageously different numbers, what should I be shooting for here? Are there factors that would suggest I look at one calculation more than the other? According to one, I'm starving myself daily; according to the other, I could stand to subtract a meal from each day.

Harris Benedict is your TDEE, not BMR. This number is all of your workouts and daily activity. I'm assuming you chose the "very active" setting which unless you're training for a marathon, is probably way too high. The katch mcardle is your BMR.

No, my TDEE is 28-something, sedentary, because I am very fat. Also, the website I quoted in my post lists both calculations as BMR calculations - as does this site, when you set your goals, IIRC.

    Edited for more info:

I checked, and I DON'T recall correctly: It's when you use MFP to calculate your BMR that you get that message.
    From fit2fat calculators:
    Harris-Benedict Formula

There are a few different methods to calculating yourbasal metabolic rate (BMR). One of the most popular, developed in the early 1900's is called the Harris-Benedict formula. Based on this formula, your current BMR is 2270 calories.

    Katch-McArdle Forumla

The numbers above are fairly accurate, however they don't take into account your lean body mass. A more accurate formula that does take your lean body mass into account is the Katch-McArdle formula. Since many of us have scales that will tell us our current body fat, this formula may yield more accurate results. Based on the information you provided, body fat percentage of OH MY GOD HIGH, you have a lean body mass of 95 lbs., and your BMR is 1303 calories.

The scales that give BF% are notoriously inaccurate. I would not trust them at all.
