Protein and Calories

I am currently set for 1200 cals (playing to see if this number works or not), but my protein is for 45. I am consistently going over on my protein every day anywhere from 20 - 60, but my fat and carbs are close to what is preset. Is this bad? Should I be resetting this manually to something else?
Also - I've read a lot of different posts on where calories should be set. Looking for your opinions (cause I know you'll give them to me  ). I'm 5'3", female, 28 and 145 lbs. ( I weigh in tomorrow - hopefully that number goes down) I used the BMR calculator and it said 1397, I believe. I'm set for 1 pound a week, and I have started working out 3 x a week. Mostly just treadmill stuff for now. I'm not ever upset if I go over, just mostly curious if I should manually set this higher.
thanks for you input!

You should actually eat more than your BMR this thread tells you all you need to know. Most of us MFPers change the macros so that protein is higher. Dont worry about going over on that.

You can't eat too much protein. It's one of the best macro nutrients for you. But if you are active, 1200 calories isn't enough. You should be eating more calories. probably 1500-16000

Thanks for the info! I'm not super active - I have a desk job during the day and I bartend one night a week and every other weekend. So it's not a lot, but it's something. I will probably up my calories just a bit and see how that goes.0

You actually need protein and more protein just means that it will take longer for you to get hungry again.0
