emotions after workout?

SO this may sound strange, but i have to see what people think:
yesterday after i completed a hard insanity workout, i had the overwhelming urge to CRY! Im confused as to why this happened and its really getting to me. Im not really an overly emotional person and so my guess is that maybe it was a stress response and release of some kind???
has this happened to anyone else?

    I either come out of a workout wanting to talk non-stop and really energised and mood elevated, or I come out and for some odd reason, find myself full of rage and anger for no apparent external reason. Not had the urge to cry, however.

    My emotions are heightened when I'm running a race, so I can understand your reaction. For me it's always race-related, but my highs are higher and my lows are lower.

    neurotransmitters. dunno which ones and why, but that's the answer. physical activity causes them to be released. assuming that a harder than usual workout gave you an extra sumthin' sumthin'.

    I usually come out pretty hyped up and excited. When I calm down I basically want sex nonstop until I fall asleep. To each their own!

    This will happen to me during HIIT workouts. Not always but sometimes. It's not like I am even thinking about anything that would make me cry. lol. I just start getting all choked up and tears start falling. It's a good thing I workout at home and no one can see me.

    I come from a family of people who get elated from working out, and then married a guy who is the same, and had two children like that. In all this healthy happiness, I am the only one who gets depressed from workouts. It's not about just being tired, that makes me cross and be cured by getting in better shape - I experience that every spring when I start hiking again. It's a really odd sense of deep unhappiness.

    I have however found that certain types of workouts are better for me than others. Running is out, but riding the bike is in. For some reason bike-riding gives me an intense sense of freedom, and even being really tired from it is ok. Swimming is another exercize like that, I can get a really hard work-out, and still feel good about it. Regular strength training with machines is out - I come home like a zombie, avoiding everybody so I won't collapse. But Pilates almost has that same effect as running has on my husband: I feel better afterwards.

    For me, I think it has to do with breathing. Both swimming and Pilates means I have to focus a lot on my breathing, and I work as much with my rhythm of breath as with the rest. Perhaps at some point I should try yoga, to see if that has the same effect. As for the biking, I think that has to do with having to focus on the environment around me - I live in a city, and need to watch the traffic closely - as well as the intervals naturally breaking it up.

    It took me a long time to learn what I could do in order to react less badly, and what I should avoid, mainly because of the sense of shame about being a lazy slob. I had to become sufficiently confident to say "no, I am not lazy", before I could figure out that this was actually a very real, but uncommon, response to certain work-outs.
