Shocking hip pain

Before you tell me to go to the doctor, which I will do, I just want to know if anyone experiences this. I have been swimming 5 days a week and doing the 30 Day Shred for the past two weeks. Last night and this morning, I was just standing when I got a severe pain in my hip. It only lasted about 1 or 2 seconds, but was quite severe. Do you think this could be some type of nerve thing? Or that I'm possibly working out too much? Swimming nor 30 Day Shred is new to me, but combining them is. I'm only 28, I better not need a new hip! :noway:

I went to the doctor last week for severe hip pain. It could be any number of things of course but what I had going on was "IT band tendinitis which has caused hip buritis." When he pushed down over the bursa area I about jumped off the table. I'm going back for some physical therapy next week and a cortisone shot. It's good you are getting it checked out, there are lots of possibilities of what it could be. Hope you feel better!

Thank you! Yes, joint problems and arthritis are very common in my family. My dad and grandmom have artificial knees. I just found this article http://www.livestrong.com/article/373279-hip-pain-exercises-to-avoid/ And every single thing they say not to do is required with the 30 Day Shred. I'll admit I have been doing it twice after I skip a day. I think all of the lunges and jumping could really be causing this problem.

I was squatting with about 70 lbs when I noticed pain in my hip and numbness all the way down to my toes. I had an MRI and it turns out there was a labral tear in my hip. I can't do lunges or squats any more, it's a major bummer. Stretches like yoga or pilates seem to help though.
