What have you asked? People will respond better to direct questions "how do I...?" or "has anyone experienced...?.". Make sure that you do not phrase things in a vague way, or people might not know what you are asking or how to respond.

Try adding more MFP friends, looked at your list and only 4 out of 23 are active

Yes, you need more friends! What problems are you having? I will send a friend invite.

In regards to your request for help, I recommend that you ask a question or describe what you're having problems with.

    Now you have been helped.

If you're referring to posting on the message boards, I've had the same issues. I don't know how they get cycled around, but I'm lucky to get up to 10 responses, where as I see most boards have pages of replies! Is there something you'd like to ask?

    Hi there,

I looked at your post history and in the past few days you've posted three threads, including this one.

Is the issue you're having with the post on TDEE? If so, there is a great search button on the top right of the message board view.

If you type in something like "help me find my TDEE" or "TDEE calculation" or "what's my TDEE" (catch my drift?) a multitude of threads pop up. A lot of threads get posted by the minute and people don't always see them. I happened to see this one because it showed as the most recently responded to thread in my forum view.

Search for a topic called "In Place of a Roadmap" or "chicksplanation of TDEE" and you'll find a lot of good info.

    Good luck!

A big part of getting responses is the time of day you post. Where in the world are you?

With the boards active, posts aren't visible for very long, so most people may never see your question. This is why you will sometimes see people bump their own posts. Other people will ask their friends instead of the hive mind.
  • What's your question babes? :flowerforyou:

I would for one recommend joining a group. Also, a lot of people like me just look at recent posts...and I only look at the first page...often a post, even if it's recent can get buried pretty quickly because of so much activity. You may want to consider bumping yourself from time to time.

Also, while there may be loads of responses on some threads, if you look at them, a lot of them...most of them are really saying the same thing for the most part. To most questions, there really aren't a ton of correct answers so you don't need pages and pages of responses necessarily.

This is an interesting question. It's based on "most recently commented upon". Sort of an inequitable way to promote threads and it leads to odd social mechanics.

But, if you haven't gotten enough responses, you can simply respond to your own thread with "bump" and it will bring it up to the top of the list.

Also, reading your previous posts to look at what people wrote back (ahem, I gave you some really good advice a few posts up) and responding to let us know you're not blowing off said really good advice, is not a bad way to make friends and establish good forum mojo either.

Thanks everyone! I have had a lot of issues with my weight recently with the stress of school and it's difficult to find answers on what I need.

With that said, I guess I need to clean out my friends list again! I haven't even realized that the majority of them aren't even active any more :(

Another interesting dynamic. People with answers seem to get tired of providing them to non responsive or ungrateful people, which over time leads to people with answers being less open and helpful, and more blunt and direct. Then people get upset about bluntness. Not referring to anything in this thread in particular but it's something that injures the community.
