Wow. I got my Fitbit Zip today!

I already love this thing! I wanted to motivate myself to be more active outside the gym. I work out regularly, but often when I'm not working out, I'm pretty lazy. (When we get a dog, which I hope will be soon, I'll have a new motivation to walk as well.) I didn't get it until this afternoon, so it doesn't know about my walk around the neighborhood this morning, but still . . . over 90% of my day was sedentary? That's not good. I did make it over 5000 steps, because I went to the gym. But I am definitely going to be working on walking around a lot when I'm not at the gym. I may even start walking in place while watching TV! (Is that weird?) I was also thinking of getting a jump rope to use at home; would the Fitbit count that as steps?
Anyway, I'm very happy with it so far. I had no trouble syncing it with MFP; I'm sure it will take me a few days to get used to that. Next month, my sister-in-law is getting one, so I'll have a buddy.

I have the One and love it. Finally found out why I wake up tired a lot of mornings. I wake up a lot during the night apparently. 15-20 times a night in roughly a 6 hour period.
As for jump roping, I don't know if it would track it as accurately. But in a pinch you could log that yourself or set your tracker to stop watch mode for more sensitive tracking.
I focus on getting in my 10 flights of stairs in. Given my particular living situation it's much easier to focus on getting in my flights of stairs than walking about. I'm hoping to get a treadmill though so that should help.0 -
How do I log an activity that the Zip doesn't count? Like, today I lifted weights for half an hour. How would I log that?0

I just got a Fitbit One and am enthralled!
If you have MFP and FB synced up, just enter your workout calories and the duration into MFP's exercise diary and they'll do the adjusting for you.0 -
Oh, cool. That's easy.0

I bought my fitbit Ultra October 2011. I loved it so much I bought the fitbit zip for my daughters and daughers in law for Christmas. We are friends on the fitbit site and hold each other accountable. I also handed down my ultra to my granddaughter when I updated to the fitbit one. I have since added a son in law for his birthday. Our family is benefiting so much from the this tiny technology tool (we are a bit of a technology oriented familiy anyway)! Before I added family members, I averaged my 5000 steps a day. Since adding "friends", I have increased my average to just under 10000 steps a day. We support each other rather than compete (thought there is a healthy bit of competition going on). We also do a 5K as a family (of 20 ranging from 67 to 3 in age) each year also. I have also added both my sisters to the fitbit family...one of the most positive moves we have made EVER!0
