Rapid Weight Gain

I gained 10 pounds in the last month, and it's because I've been eating a ton more. I used to have really good control over my diet and I could make myself go work out every week, but I started birth control 3 weeks ago (Microgestin Fe) and my weight shot up quite quickly. I'm really stressed out over this because I used to love the way I looked - I was 107 at 5'2" - and I feel like I'm slowly losing control of my life. I know that sounds melodramatic, but I've always had control over my appetite and weight and now I don't know what to do. I have cravings for carbs and sweet things, and when I start eating I'll blank out and keep going on and on, like a mini binge. But every single pound shows on me; I have a small frame and my stomach is sticking out and I look like I'm pregnant. Has anyone had similar weight gain experiences? I'm just very frustrated and angry at myself right now :/
Thanks for your advice.

I am in no way medically trained, but from reading and listening to others I would suggest that your medication could be changed. If you talk to your doctor he/she may be able to suggest an alternative method.
As for the motivation, I do recognise your outpourings. I'm sure many of us feel like you.
I was on track and content for over a year then a holiday and some other stuff happened and I lost my way, putting on about 8lbs in the process. Since then it's been really hard to get any weight shifted at all. Doesn't help that well meaning friends keep telling me how I don't need to lose, I look fine... etc.
I am determined, but I get days when it's not working and I end up with the mini binge mentality that you described.
Keep plodding on. Use the forums for support, exercise where you can and try to look long term (the hardest!).
    You are among friends!
    Good luck.
And do check with your dr.

Weight gain can be a side effect of any birth control. You could go talk to your doc about maybe trying a different birth control. You basically have to do trial and error because the same birth control may cause weight gain in some and not in others.

I put on 10lbs in a month when I first started birth control... I was soo hungry all the time, even when I'd just eaten. After two months I went to the doctor's and got switched to a different pill, and the hunger went away (I still had to work hard to get the weight off). I'd say go to your doc!
