im unsure if im eating the right amount of calories in terms of my current weight and my weight loss goal
I currently weigh 12st 3lbs and im 5'3 in height.
I am for 1,200 calories a day sometimes going over by 100. I do around 30-60 minuets a day with 30 mins being the average. I also do an exercise video "10 minuet solutions" and i do one segment. Im starting gym once a week on a Friday for an hours workout. Im a full time mum so can only squeeze this one hour in a week where my mum will watch my little one.
Im about to start 30 day shred on Monday as well. I aim be down to 9 and a half stone or ten stone by may 17th when im going on holiday. My main thing is to have a flat stomach as after having my little one it is horrendous! look at the link if your brave enough haha. I think its gone down slightly in 7 days but im unsure

I'm unsure about exercise and calories as I am just starting out but I can see changes in your stomach.
It has gone down and your skin seems to be shrinking back too0 -

Wow there is a difference in your 2 pictures. Good for you and well done!!
You will read a lot on here about varying opinions of how low to eat. I can tell you that if you eat at 1200 calories and workout regularly, you will not stick with it and give up (think DIET). Many say to eat at least your BMR (mine is 1380 and I'm 5'3), plus eat some exercise calories. BMR is what your body needs to just survive (breathe, move around, lift your arm). There's a great BMR calculator here: http://scoobysworkshop.com/calorie-calculator/
I'm on Day 19 of the 30 Day Shred and it kicks my butt! I burn at least 200 calories in the 20 minutes according to my heart rate monitor. If I ate 1200 a day, and did that every day, I would be netting 1000 calories a day and how can I expect my body to function properly, have energy and be happy? I can't and I won't so I eat to 1700 a day and work out every day, usually 45-60 minutes a day. I think you should adjust your weekly goal to lose 1 1b a week (not 2 1bs) and that will give you more to eat in a day. Many make that mistake on here to set it at 2 1bs a week and set themselves up to fail. What's the rush? As long as you're happy, healthy and losing. Good luck.0 -

You are not hideous. Use a tape measure at belly button height for consistency. Given you are young your skin is more likely to bounce back if you lose weight slowly and don't crash diet, half to one pound a week so about 17 pounds (1 stone 3lbs) so down to 11 stone by May 17th.
Don't make the mistakes of under eating or over exercising, don't net under your basal metabolic rate (the amount your body would need even if in a coma). You weigh 171 pounds and your BMR is roughly 1600 calories so you should be eating this plus your exercise calories. If you eat too little your body will burn your muscle and you will end up flabbier not leaner.
Get your 10,00 steps every day with your little one, use this as your active rest days between workouts. Then, assuming you are fully healthy, add in up to four hours a week of very intense formal exercise, preferably a mixture of cardio and strength training. At the gym consider taking a class like BodyPump or Boxercise, do you know any other mothers that could trade childcare with so you can go twice a week? The higher the intensity of your workouts the more 'afterburn' you get (raised metabolism for up to two days) and the likely you are to burn off stomach fat, but it's impossible for most of us to train at that level on a daily basis.
Remember exercise breaks the body down, rest and nutrition builds it back up again. Be sure to eat a nutritious diet so you remain healthy, energetic and so your muscles repair and refuel after exercise: seven to nine servings of fruit and veg, three servings of reduced fat dairy, oily fish regularly, plenty of fibre and mineral rich foods (beans, lentils, nuts, seeds), protein little and often from breakfast. Avoid or limit sugars, high glycaemic index carbs, excess caffeine, saturated animal fats, alcohol and smoking as these can all put the body into a state of stress which contributes to fat being laid down or held on the stomach area.0 -
Thankyou for your very detailed and informative post hun it was really helpful! There is no one that could watch him for an extra day unfortunately but I'm hoping extra exercise at home will make up for that haha. I'm eating around 1200 calories a day on average the problem is half of that is carbs which I need to change!0

you really should listen to what we're saying and eat more than 1200 calories, especially if you're going to UP your exercise...0

yes hun im going to up my calorie intake on your advice. im thinking around 1400 - 1600?x0
