Yoga for beginners? Part Duex

Last week, I posted a topic regarding yoga for beginners and got some good feedback.

So today I bought Hatham and Flow Yoga for Beginners and tried Hatham first. WOW! They make it look so easy but for someone as unfit, stiff, and overweight as myself, it was difficult yet I did it! I know it's incorporating postures with conscious breathing, but it was hard at first to get the breathing down to a rhythm and hold some of the simple stretches. Mostly is because of the aforementioned: I'm unfit, stiff and overweight. Most of the time, my belly seemed to "get in the way".

So my question(s) are how often should I do the Hatham series before I attempt Flow? Will this get easier over time? And should I already start to feel "sore" after just one session?

My boss is from India, and I was talking to him about yoga, and he said Americans to it wrong because they try to force the poses. He told me to never ever exert any force. It should be very easy and no pain or struggle at all. He said he second you feel tension, back off a notch, and that's where you hold. When you're done, you should never feel sore at all. He recommends that you do yoga everyday. If you use his method, which I have, it's far more enjoyable. And, eventually, you do get more bendy. It's like weight loss, it's a long journey. In India, they view yoga as a life long pursuit, so you're not supposed to hurry up and get into a pose.

I didn't answer your question at all. Sorry.
