One piece of advice...

If you could only give ONE piece of advice to someone just starting MFP and eating healthy, what would your wise words be? And remember it can only be ONE thing.
I would suggest that they eat a good breakfast because I find that it is easier to stay on track during the day if I start the day full.

It is the small changes that add up to a lot. Giving up soda isn't the end of the world.0

Don't give up because you had one bad day, or a string of bad days. The good days will outnumber the bad and you will see progress if you stick with it.0

Only believe about half the advice you get from the workout and nutrition forums - and try to verify any information in the other half.0

IMO - Do a variety of exercise.
It improves your mood, keeps it interesting, and forces your body continually adapt and develop.0 -

Add plenty of veggies to your diet.0 -
I think my biggest success has been using breaks to do fast walking or to play basketball during the day. It is easy to drive past the gym at the end of the day when you're tired. So daytime exercise where possible at least once a day during the work week is a successful strategy.0

be careful if you add ENSURE HIGH PROTEIN SHAKE, for extra protein..(this one is soy based)...I had a bad reaction after drinking one that warrants a warning....first of all, I have had gluten problems, and am still eating gluten in preparation of the CELIAC test, so it may also be related to this, but I had not had anything with gluten for a couple days so I think it was related to the ENSURE...I was driving out of town on my way to a training for my job, and about half an hour after drinking this suppliment, my brain went blank...basically I briefly lost conciousness..and got in a wreck, during peak evening traffic...just skidding across the highway in between cars...luckily I am ok..but I am sore and maybe have a whiplash....but my point is, be carful if you use this suppliment...I am relating my response to this, because 3 days later while sitting at my computer, and drinking another one, the same thing happened....

P.S. take the time to teach your kids that fruit and veggies win over chips and butter.0

A sustainable program is a successful program0

Drink your water, it makes a huge difference0

Don't make this complicated. Exercise and eat enough to maintain a reasonable calorie deficit. That is all there is to it.0

Don't beat yourself up over a mistake. It will be ok. Just start over fresh.0

doesnt matter when you eat, you cannot rev or jumpstart your metabolism...its a matter of preference0

Keep it simple.0
-
Do not fall victim to the hrm hype0
-
Only make changes that you can keep for the rest of your life.0
-
Log every single thing you eat, don't kid yourself.0
-
Don't beat yourself up after one or two bad meals!!0

My advice is to treat advice skeptically. Just because someone gives advice doesn't mean they know what they are talking about. Lots of broscience floating around.0
-
Use google to go find out what your BMR is, and then for the love of god eat at least that much every day.0
-
Everything in moderation - a little treat now and again never hurt anyone0
