Greetings!
Im new here and looking forward to getting something out of this tool. I'm 26/f/Alberta, looking to loss a few, or a bunch, but more importantly get to a healthier state. I had been in the normal range, 135 lbs, for most of my life but after an unusually difficult time in 2010 and starting on anti depressants my weight went out of control. In addition to weight gain I also experienced a severe lack of motivation to do anything other than eat, sleep and go to work. I've been prescription free since September 2012 and hoping to get rid of the 40ish lbs gained during my stint with SSRIs.
I'm currently a Weight Watchers member, but I don't think I am using it to its full potential. There are no meeting in my area to keep me motivated and I feel stupid telling my friends and family that I am involved in it. I'm looking forward to that aspect of MFP. Much less taboo to speak of and I can add friends! Hooray!
I am also looking forward to using this more powerful tracking tool. I liked how WW used a point system instead of counting calories but there are so much more food choices already in the database here that I don't need to frig around manually entering nutritional info. That in itself is worth the trade to me.
I'll probably stick with both for the time being since I am losing weight with WW, albeit too slowly in my opinion. Since September I've lost about 13 lbs, I started out at 180 and weighed in this morning at 166. Hopefully MFP can out do that!
