Low Calorie Breakfast/Lunch Ideas?

Hi All,

I am trying to find some new ideas for breakfast/lunch. In the morning I usually eat my one egg and 2 egg whites with spinach and goat cheese, and for lunch a large spinach salad with strawberries or pears with walnuts and goat cheese, but I am getting quite bored. My daily calorie intake is 1270 and I need to find some new recipes that are low calorie to help keep me going on this weight loss journey. TIA!!

I love Trader Joe's. Rosemary Chicken Breasts with Wild Rice -- half the package is under 300 calories. I put some green beans in the microwave container, and they steam when I nuke the food.

A good old turkey sandwich with mustard and no mayo.

Whole grain pasta and chicken and veggies.

I do an egg patty on a whole grain english muffin or steel cut oatmeal and yogurt for breakfast.

1/2 cup rolled oats with 1/4 cup blueberries is a breakfast I like. The blueberries make it sweet enough to not need sugar.
  • Look at some of your Friend's food diary. That should give you more options.

Just buy some new foods next time you grocery shop - don't eat the same thing twice in one day you should be eating a wide range of different foods for health. Have you two or three servings of fruit and veg at breakfast and two or three different ones at lunch then you are four to six towards your nine a day instead of only two. Be sure you are eating from the full rainbow of colours - blue/ purple, red, orange/ yellow not just green.

There is a huge array of different muscle meats, organ meats, oily fish, seafood, dairy products, fruit and vegetables that are diet friendly, Google recipes for them. And eat some mineral and fibre rich foods, you can't get all the nutrients your body needs for health from protein and vegetables - if you choose not to eat wholegrains, beans or lentils you must eat loads of nuts and seeds, don't underestimate how much it can be, a sprinkle of walnuts is not going to cut it,.

Lastly is 1270 calories really netting your over your BMR? Are you exercising regularly, are you trying to lose too quickly?
  • I am not sure how to calculate my calories, I just go by what MFP has done for me. I am 5 feet and 163 lbs. I do the 30 day shred everyday, and I also take care of my 2 little kids (both under 2), but I don't consider that exercise. If anyone can help me figure this out, I would appreciate it.
