Weight gain and exercise

I've been struggling to maintain for the past few weeks - going up (mainly) and down (occasionally) despite tracking. Is this just my body adapting or should I go back to diet calories to get back to goal? I have been lifting heavy(ish) too and do appear (according to the unreliable scales!) to have gained muscle and lost fat which is good, However I am quite weight obsessed and fear regaining the pounds! Any advice or experiences that others can share?

it's only been a few weeks. your body takes time to adapt. While you have not gained muscle, your body sometimes holds on to water while adjusting to a new program. have patience, stay the course, stop obsessing over the scale

Thanks for the reply. My worry is I gain quickly and lose slowly so don't want to continue this pattern! I guess women tend to follow scales and men are more likely to focus on muscle mass! (big generalization!) :-)

In case anyone else has had this difficulty, I wanted to post that I lost the weight I gained last week plus a bit this week so my fears were unfounded. For others that are near goal/are starting new routines this may be reassuring.
