PopTarts - have to peel the back cakey part off and eat it first so that I can enjoy the filling and the frosting side.

I can't stand for my food to touch. And I always save my favorite thing to eat for last.

Oh, and I eat all the broth in my soups first, and then eat the other ingredients.

When eating a pizza with pepperoni on it, I eat all the pepperoni off of it first... Then consume it like a cheese pizza.

When I eat ice cream (hand dipped), I have to mash and stir it up in the bowl so it becomes the consistency of soft serve.

All my food on my plate CANNOT touch each other.

I can't stand for the liquid from cooked veggies too seep under any other food on my plate. So I position the plate in a way that the veggies are at the 12 o'clock position, then lift up the front of the plate (6 o'clock position)and place a butter knife under it so that the liquid stays at the vegetable end of the plate.

I always eat my meat first (I hate when the meat cools off, it gets chewy). I also always eat all of one thing before moving on to the next, starting with my favourite (as long as it's warm - cold things are ALWAYS last).

That's pretty much it for me. Nothing else consistent, things change with my mood.

My brother used to eat Kraft Dinner with chopsticks though. That was pretty quirky.

I eat everything with both a knife and a fork. Pizza, pasta, burgers, chips, toast...if it's solid I'm using both utensils.

Not exactly eating, but bananas must be purchased in bunches of 4. No exceptions.

When i use to drink coke a few years ago i would always try to hide it by placing a menu or something in front of it because i would always drink it before my actual meal came.
And also the last few bites of my meal i always have with my hands (anything other than soup or something liquidy of course)

If I'm eating any sort of chips, I will save the folded over ones until last.

My food can't touch...if I have mashed potatoes and corn on my plate, there needs to be at least an inch distance between the two. I've yet to find foods that are allowed to touch.

The mashed potatoes, and corn thing would be utter blasphemy in my family, if the corn is not on the cob. Every single one of us on my mom's side eat it with the corn on top of them potatoes.

If I have some sort of biscuit which has a creamy filling (custard cream, bourbon, oreos) then I usually have to have two because I have to pull them apart and sandwich them back together and double up the creamy part...I feel weird if there is only one biscuit left and I have to eat it on it's lonesome :(

I only eat purple grapes (the darker the better). I peel it and lick the juice before I pop it in my mouth.

If I really love something on the plate, I leave it for last and I cut it in small pieces and savor each bite.

The only way I would eat mashed potatoes is with a bunch of baked garlic in it. More garlic than potato.

I eat cherries and pineapple with salt.

Every time I have mashed potatoes I must make a crater in the middle of the potatoes and pour gravy into it. Most times I put the veggie(corn/peas) into the crater first and then the gravy.

I eat the same thing for weeks at a time. In the summer I had goat cheese every day for about 3 months straight. Now it's mozzarella.

Get grossed out, can't sit at a table with people who shovel food with a fork and have to juggle the cutlery when cutting with a knife.
Whew glad I could get that off my chest.
I love to mix mashed potatoes, cauliflower, and ketchup together. Then I spread it out and cut it into 1 inch squares. Only do it to remind me of my childhood, but derive great joy from doing it occasionally.

    Just 2 quirks.
I get very sad/mad if I order eggs over easy and the yolks are hard. I eat them anyway but it ruins the breakfast.
I love to dip bites of my medium-rare steak into my garlic mashed potatoes-yum!

I can't stand when people take a drink WHILE THEY STILL HAVE FOOD IN THEIR MOUTH. It makes me want to throw up... seriously.

I have an ED and this goes hand-in-hand...I have 'quirks' for EVERYTHING I consume or not consume...I know this is not healthy! Some of you too must also have ED's and/or OCD's.

Reese's Pieces - I eat them in order: yellow, brown, orange, repeat, until only the orange are left (since there are more of them).

I refuse to eat blue M&Ms.

Corn on the Cob - I can't eat it off the cob. I pick individual kernels off, one by one, and eat them (no butter/no salt). Needless to say I will not eat corn on the cob in public. I can't eat apples/pears from the core or peaches/nectarines off the pit, either--I must cut them up to eat them.

Raisins - I like raisins, but I don't like them when they are squishy. Plain raisins, raisins in trail mix, raisins in zucchini bread = good. Raisins in apple pie, raisins in oatmeal, raisins in rice pudding = yuck.

I can not handle the skin on peppers or tomato. They have to be peeled. Same with grapes.

I can't stand the sound of others eating at the table. It will completely put me off.

Can't do the smell of dairy so while I can have it in other foods (like milk in mash potato) if I smell it that's me done.

Cheese - I can only handle it "cooked". Melted into something is fine but I could not take a piece of "raw" cheese in my mouth.

As someone else said the tomato touching bread in a sandwich is a no - no.

Peppers in a stir fry have to stay firm, not soft and slimy from over cooking. Can't eat green peppers without red peppers.

Won't eat eggs unless I crack the shell myself in case shell gets in my food.

Won't eat in a restaurant if the menu feels greasy. If that passes the test I check out the toilets. If they are not in good shape I am out of there. This one really tests my hubbies patience :-)

Use paper towels to pick up salt, pepper shakers in restaurants.

Haha, my bf makes fun of me for this one: Whenever I make a sandwich with tomato, the tomato has to be between lettuce or spinach and whatever else is on the sandwich. The tomato can NOT touch the bread. It makes sense, though! The tomato would make the bread soggy.
I do this! and for the same reason...ewwww soggy bread lol.
Also some foods can not touch.

i cannot bite into cherry tomatoes as the bursting sensation makes me think of biting into a cockroach or something - ew. but if i cut them in half first, they're fine.

i eat pizza slices crust first, then turn it back around and eat it 'normally.'

handful of M&Ms/skittles/something similar - have to have the same number of each colour, so will eat the 'extras' to even it all out, then once i have the same number of each colour, I will eat them as close to rainbow order as possible.

for breakfast i have a two egg white omelet on a mini bagel. i always make sure i place the egg on the bottom part of the bagel. no idea why i can't place it on the top part, then turn the bagel over, but that just seems like too much work.

my favorite piece of the steak is the very first piece cut at the end. if i don't get that piece, the meal is ruined.

with pork chops and mashed potatoes i have to eat the last bite of pork chop with the last bite of mashed potatoes. i have to ration it perfectly. if not, i take more of each to try again.

Pretty much this. I try to have equal parts meat (usually fish or chicken in my case) and carb and/or vegetable by the end of my meal so the last bite is even. It sounds way more complicated than it is but when you mentioned this, I realized I have a similar habit. It's weird but I feel like the last bite should be the most satisfying and balanced.

    • I usually mash my ice cream until it becomes "soup". I don't know why I enjoy ice cream best this way.
    • I also cannot stand the cream part of the Oreo biscuit, so I scrape off as much as I can, before I deem it suitable for consumption, i.e. the biscuits cannot have even a smidgen of white on them.
    • I hate the consistency of jelly/jell-o in my mouth, as it makes me gag.
