Binge and Weight Gain

Hey guys I need some help about finding some stuff out. Usually I'm pretty good at sticking to my diet, but over the weekend there have been two back to back birthday parties and I just binged out completely on both of them. Thing is, I'm an athlete (Muay Thai to be exact) and we have intense training sessions everyday sometimes even twice a day. So what I want to know is if even though I binged over the weekend but I trained really hard core the next day (plus lowered my calorie count on the following day) will I still have any weight gain or will that just break even or so? I mean basically what happend when you binge but workout really intensely the next day? Is a two day binge going to cause significant weight gain?

Well, it all comes down to calories taken in vs. calories burned. Another user a week or so ago had a great post doing the math. Suppose your break-even (no weight gain or loss) is 2000 calories, and your target of 1800 a day allows you to lose a pound a week...so if you took in 2200 calories a day, you'd gain a pound a week.

So multiplying those numbers by seven, 14,000 cal/week is break even, 12,600 cal/week = loss of 1lb, and 15,400 cal/week is needed to gain a pound in a week. That's a lot, if you're generally stay on plan, and have one bad day, and exercise Muay Thai that week, I don't expect one bad day a week to throw you off too bad.

Did you calculate your calorie intake on your bad day?

I can't see you diary so I don't know how much you are eating and what your daily goal is set too. If you are highly active then it may well be that you are not eating enough to sustain your active lifestyle anyway. In any case one binge isn't going to cause any damage. Forget it and move on.

No one can answer that question for you. This is not an exact science and being you just ate, your entries would be a best guess. (i u entered them) Now, in saying that, just start the next day clean and move on. Stop feeling guilty about it.
