Eating prior to exercise???

Ok... Here goes
At the moment on days when im doing rigorous exercise i try to eat my meals a minimum of 3hrs before exercise to allow myself time to digest the food... i dont know where i got this habit from... Am i doing right exercising on a empty stomach (ive already consumed most of my cals for the day) and i only drink water prior to and during exercise... I then eat a sandwich or a salad or sometimes junk afterwoulds..
Is this the right way to do things? I sometimes form habits without questioning why so thought id ask your opinions

3 hours is plenty long enough.. You can cause indigestion exercising right after but 2-3 hours is fine. I personally train on an empty stomach as I still do intermittent fasting. Doesn't make much difference either way but some people I know have no energy to train unless they've eaten before.0

I always eat before I workout. Usually something small, 200-300 calories, though I imagine if you ate a large meal beforehand, waiting a few hours wouldn't be a bad idea. I've just found I get queasy and dizzy if I try to exercise on an empty stomach.0

Yeah I find if I eat within about 2 hours of exercising I feel nauseous so I usually leave it a couple hours too.0

It depends on what your goals are. If you are trying to burn fat then it would be better to train on an empty stomach but if you are trying to develop strength or build muscle then it would be better to eat shortly before you train, drink some amino acids while you train and then eat again after you train.0

If I eat prior to strength training or cardio it is light and about 1-2 hours before. Something easy to digest and not too heavy or a large amount. Normally i dont eat before a workout though since i go in the mornings anyway.0

So theres no right way or wrong way then? I'll keep doing what im doing0
