Walking or Biking?

A couple of years ago I walked everyday for 6 months with a friend. I did lose weight but slowing, mostly due to I was exercising but not doing a diary of food and tracking. This week I started Fitness Pal for the first time. I did make my 2 pounds off this week goal, hooray!! Question is I am riding a bike this time instead of walking. I definitely fill it more and really out of breath by the time I get home. Is biking burning more calories than leisure walking? Should I mix it up and do both?

Yes, it probably is burning a bit more, but hard to say for sure. Do what you feel like doing, just as long as you are doing something.

If weight loss is your goal, tighten up your diet as it is the biggest factor in weight loss/gain. Exercise is secondary.

I personally would you should bike, but that's because I thoroughly enjoy biking and this world could use more people biking. From what I've calculated, I end up burning more calories from biking than I do walking, but I'm usually going for a much more intense workout on my bike.

But honestly, just stay active. Burning calories is burning calories.

Thanks I really feel the heart racing and the muscles burning when I bike. I agree watch the calories and do some type exercise each day.

Its always good to mix it up. If you've been walking for a long time, make sure you are increasing your pace or going up steeper hills to increase the challenge. If walking isn't a challenge anymore, its not going to be as effective.
