i started wearing my pedometer because i'm constantly on my feet and walking since i'm a 4th year medical student. i enter my calories and an approximate time walking done throughout the day, but i don't consume those calories. in my exercise notes, i keep track of how many steps, miles, and calories. i also take my pedometer off once i'm home so i don't included calories just around the apartment. i've been keeping track with the pedometer mainly to see how "active" i was at work, not as a form of true exercise like the stationary bike that i ride 3-5 times/week.0
