Kai from The Biggest Loser (Season 3)

Has anyone come across this article or heard of this story? I know it's nearly 3 years old, but I am just now hearing of it and I am shocked. I knew TBL was extreme in its methods, but hearing the actual details from a former contestant is very eye-opening. I've always enjoyed watching TBL; however, I don't know how I feel about it after reading this.

Well, you have to consider the source too. I have read some articles before of hers, and about her - (not able to actually access your link below while I'm on a work computer) ---- but I have often wondered, if she wasn't a bit of a "disgruntled client" so to speak. Don't get me wrong, some things may be true - but some things...likely not. I dunno, I just always try to consider the source. If you go back and watch the final weigh in from the live show for that season, you kind of see a look on her face like she was really tissed off (it's a standout memory moment for me in BL history...because I remember it being odd her reaction) - and she's the only one who comes out (or that I've read) with any bad info on the show. Consider Ali, the actual 1st female winner of BL. She's always only got 100% great things to say about the show and the people, etc....course...could that be just because she won? haha. who knows. :)
  • Wow.... I quit watching the show a few seasons back!

I've read that several times. Kai got emails from other contestants saying they were thankful that she spoke out about how they were truly treated on the ranch. The reason that more people have not spoken out is that when they are chosen for the show, they sign contracts basically saying that they are not allowed to talk about what happens behind the scenes. Many people have feared 'coming clean' about how they were treated in fear of being sued or serving time in jail and what that would do to their families.

It's a great story, please read it.

Ah, good point. I supposed I'd be pretty positive too if I lost all that weight AND won $100,000 lol.

I don't want to sit here and say its all 100% rubbish or it's all 100% true. I think the truth lies somewhere in the middle.
I understand that extreme exercise and dieting happens in this show and it needs to for them to lose such a massive amount of weight in short timescales.
I'm still going to watch the show though.

i've never watched the show before this season and i was absolutely horrified at the way the contestants were treated. If you want to watch a good weight loss show watch Chris Powell's extreme makeover weight loss edition.
