Sushi help

This is probably a hard question - I'm trying not to make it complicated. I'm aware that sushi is healthy but because I'm trying to avoid a lot of carbs. I got invited to go out with friends to this place, "California Rollin'" in Rochester. Any tips or advices on making sure that I'm eating sushi in a healthy way possible? :embarassed:

Sashimi is my go to, but it isn't to avoid carbs.. I just love it. There are plenty of entries in the database for a variety of sashimi as well. Enjoy!

Sushi made with brown rice, no cream cheese or gobs of that mayo topping.
  • Sashimi is a good idea but if you aren't big on eating a lot of raw fish (which can be expensive!) try to eat sushi with clean ingredients and a salad/edamame. Fish, vegetables, fruit, etc without heavy sauces or tempura is a good way to go. Also, you can look up the nutritional facts of each roll online if you need a point of reference while you are out.
    Best of luck!

Agree with all the sashimi people. Add a seaweed salad, some edamame and miso soup, and voila! Delicious and nutritious.

A restaurant near me does chopped salmon and tuna sashimi on half an avocado with some kind of crazy delicious sauce, it's my new favourite thing to eat.

ps it probably won't kill you to eat a few pieces of sushi or half a yummy roll. Enjoy.

Thanks with the quick reply!! I found a vegetarian menu... can I ask what is Tomago and Red Ginger sushi? It's under Vegetarian rolls... I tried researching it but it seems that it's Tamago, not Tomago? Have anyone tried this before?

Sounds like someone misspelled tamago. It's sweet egg and SO DELICIOUS.

Tamago is grilled egg. As for rolls, you'll have to ask. Even regular rolls like a spicy tuna could vary from one restaurant to the next.
