Most effective deadlift...?

Just started a program that calls for Romanian deadlifts- first time I've done this type. They're a bit of a bugger form-wise, but my a$s is definitely killing me now after doing them Saturday. Before these, I've only done the standard deadlift. Just wondering what everyone's thoughts (and reasons) are on the most effective deadlifting style... ?

Effective for what exactly?0

Figured that was coming- I suppose I didn't really specify. I'm not really looking for any particular muscle group. Just curious as to which exercise yields the best results for the muscle group that it's supposed to target. There's a decent list of variations to the dead lift, I was just wondering which ones people tend to favor0

i like regular and romanian deadlift.
ii think they are both good exercises.0 -
I'm not an expert on all of them. I would think standard is around the top for overall strength and possibly posterior chain. Stiff legged variants may be better for hamstring development.0

I suppose if you get bored easliy then trying the others helps? They all work the back end...good mornings are a good assistance exercise...um, not sure what else to add here : )0

I kind of see conventional deadlift (or sumo, if you prefer over conventional) to be the premier, steak portion of the meal, while the rest are just sides, tasty and delicious, and definitely add to the enjoyment of the steak, but the steak is the real reason you are sitting down to the meal. Does that make sense, or am I just making myself hungry now?
To clarify, you gain more from the conventional deadlift, more strength, lift heavier weights, impacts more of the body, etc, etc. The others are also great, but are more like accessories that help you improve the main lift (deadlift). Just my opinion.0 -
Can anyone recommend a website that gives a good explanation of the various lifts in question and the correct form for them?0
