Carb Cycling

I know that alot of weight lifters use this method to break plateaus- but would this be a good method for someone who needs to lose 60+ pounds?

  • Its really difficult.

Here is a website of a very talented fellow.
    http://scoobysworkshop.com/advanced-fat-loss-carb-cycling/

He has a lot of info on not only carb cycling but even exercises, etc.

here is his youtube page, I have seen plenty of his videos and he is consistent and I have no peeves with him except that he prefers egg whites over whole eggs (probably because he eats so many).

I don't think you'll have any benefit to a cyclical intake over a steady intake unless there are some preferential things that a cyclical intake would give you. From a net fat loss perspective I wouldn't expect any difference.

I did it for my first ever cut.... i wouldn't reccomend it. I really on feel as though it worked due to the fact that if youre reducing the carbs, you cutting out cals... example:

    High Carb Day: 3,000 Cals
    Mod Carb Day: 2,000 Cals
    Low Carb Day: 1,000 Cals

    It just balances out....
  • Ah okay. I was more curious about it because I had eaten really strict last week and worked hard in the gym but all week I had gained. Yesterday I blew my diet and expected a gain on the scale, but I had actually lost. I was thinking that maybe my body was having a freak out and in starvation mode or something and that carb cycling might would help it out. Thanks for the info, y'all.

Fluid weight can really make things difficult to get a handle on at times. I guarantee you this: If you just stick to a calorie deficit, and exercise, you will lose weight over the course of time even if you see temporary fluctuations on the scale from day to day.

As far as whether or not you cycle calories or carbs, just use personal preference. Both methods will work roughly the same but if one meets your lifestyle or preferences more, then choose that one.
