Biggest loser Brittney

I find it comforting to see Jillian struggle with finding the proper technique to reduce Brittney's weight by a large amount. I'm sad that she was kicked off, but hearing what Jillian said to her I think is as much a testiment to how individual each body is as anything.
Jillian had tried everything to increase her weight loss, but Brittney's body was just not letting it happen, she tried increasing calories, increasing workout, changing what she eats, mixing up her routine...everything. She finally tried to change her electrolyte balance, and that didn't work either. And this is from a highly trained professional.
So remember everyone, sometimes you have to fight your body for every pound, it sucks, but even after 3 months, Jillian couldn't figure this one out.
Personally, I feel like Brittney's weight loss was the healthiest of the bunch, because she has only been loosing 2 or 3 lbs a week, I think she has a good chance of not being deflated once she goes home and continues it, also her body has had to make much less drastic changes because her loss has been slower. I think she will be where she needs to be within a year, and I also think she will be able to maintain it because she took her time getting there.
If I had my way, she would be the model of weight loss, not those freaks who drop 8 or 10 lbs a week. That's just not realistic for 99.9% of the population.

I always wonder about that when I watch the show. The amount of weight most of the contestants lose on any given week is just way too much to be healthy. Yes, the larger men especially will lose it faster and weight just comes off easier when you are bigger simply because your body is like "Woohoo!" and it melts off in the beginning because it is not used to the "effort??" I don't know. I need to research this so I can use better terms!! hehe
But, Brittney has lost slow and healthy despite the grueling workouts and strict diet. (which does have to be frustrating!) You are right when you say each body is unique. It will do what it will at the pace it is comfortable at.
She looks great! Beautiful, young woman! She will bounce back well from this I think. That dress was a TAD low cut though!!! LOL!0 -
I don't think that the trainers would let them drop that much weight even though it's a show and a challenge... if it wasn't healthy, ya know? At least I hope not. I love this show and I believe they are doing it the healthy way, anyone can drop a lot of weight if all you do is workout, ya know!0

Hehe, My wife kept saying "Look at her boobs, I didn't know she had boobs!" I was smart enough not to comment on that.0 -

Don't kid yourself, they are pushing the limits with these people. On the other hand, I know from reading up on it that this show employes permenant nurses to constantly monitor these people and I have read they keep a doctor on staff for the first month while the contestants are at the greatest health risk.
the other thing is, these people work out 4 HOURS A DAY! Seriously, I saw that on a documentary on it, 4 HOURS, do you have any idea how much that is for a person who has never (or not in years) worked out? I used to do that for 10 days at the beginning of football season in High School and College, I knew kids who would drop 20 to 30 lbs in that 10 days (granted, 1/2 of it was water).
Also, when you are morbidly obese, you can create a higher deficite without risk of injury then you can when you are simply overweight or normal.0 -

Good job Banks. I always knew you were a smart one . . . :laugh:0 -

That's funny! In sort of a similar story....I was talking about my OWN...erm...."girls" to my husband one day and mentioned that they were getting smaller due to losing weight...and I said "They are, aren't they??"...and my husband says. "I refuse to answer that!! If I say they ARE smaller, you will get upset that I would care about it and if I say they are the same , then you will say I don't think you've lost enough weight..so it's a lose lose!!"
Poor guy!! I just said "Of course they are smaller!! Its the way the body works, darn it!!!" LOL!0 -
ha.. I have already warned my husband that I might be going from a 42dd to a 36 long, but my boobs are the least of my concerns, I want to feel great again and I'll be honest, I can't wait to get rid of some boob!
The trainers are as into the "game" as the contestants now are. There are a lot of reasons to take it slower and I agree with Banks, Brit has the best chance of keeping it off long term because it has come off slower for her. Personally I was glad she went home this week, she needed to know that she could go home and do it on her own. She has a good chance of winning the eliminated contestant prize so she's not out of it all together!
Banks is right, the contestants work out a MINIMUM of 4 hours per day and what we don't see is they are medically supervised through the whole thing. If I worked out 4 hours a day I would be dropping lbs like crazy too, I am happy with my results so far, I will stick to 90 minutes a day!0 -
I too was sad to see her go b/c I really could relate to her slow weight loss. Even though I know that is the healthiest way to lose, it sometimes can be quite discouraging..especially when everyone around her was dropping double digits. I bet she is a bombshell at the finale.
Her dress was a tad low, but she wore it well. My seven year old daughter was in shock. She said, " Mommy why are half her boobs showing' don't ever wear a dress lik that?!?!?!" Not too worry...I couldn't wear it if I wanted to--my boobs have fed two babies (each for a year)..dresses like that are not a possibility anymore!!:laugh:0
