Here's my vegetable dilema. dont like carrots w/o ranch dip. Don't like celery or apples w/o peanut butter, i don't know if i like hummus? How can i eat veggies w/o all the added calories?

You can make loads of different kinds of bean dips so that at least what extra calories you do consume have lots of nutrition. Besides, nutrients in carrots absorb better when consumed with some fat.

Try to teach your taste buds to enjoy the veggies without the dip or find a lower calorie option (a lot of people make their own dressings). For ranch you could use yogurt instead of sour cream, etc.

Or try the veggies a different way or other veggies.

I make my own ranch dip. I have a jar of spices I mixed and I add a bit to cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, sour cream, whatever I feel like using as a base. Much fewer calories than bottled ranch, and it tastes great. I can give you the recipe if you like, I found it on Pinterest.

Get a tub of 0% Fage Greek Yogurt, add the Hidden Valley Buttermilk spice mix. Yummo, only about 10 calories a tablespoon, plus no fat and extra protein!

I drizzle my veggies with one serving of low cal ranch (80 cals per 2 tbls). I put some onion powder and sage into the dressing for more flavor. I use my spice rack liberally with no guilt of added calories.

I make my own tofu dip, so at least I'm getting some protein with my veggies. I use the soft tofu, an avocado, some spinach, spices, and a teaspoon or so of vinegar, and one of lemon juice. Pop it all in a food processer and whip it up! You'll have to experiment with what flavours work for you, but I find it delicious and nutritious.

Also, I LOVE peanut butter and no one will make me give it up. I just make sure to carefully measure my serving of 25% less sodium PB!
