Hi there,
I am new to the forum, and i'm sure this question has been asked a bazillion times, but please, amuse me!
I work out Monday thru Friday for 45 minutes on the treadmill. I probably burn an average of 350 calories per day, some days more, some days less. I also started strength training last week.
Anyways, it has been 8 weeks, do I need to change it up or do you think i'll keep losing if I just keep at it?
BTW, freakin' love this place!
Edited to add: I have lost 18 pounds since January 22, 2008.

My personal work out routine changes every couple weeks but thats me. i have found that thats what i need to stay movitated and making the progress i want. I dont think its ever a bad thing to shake things up. keep your body guessing.
good luck and keep up the good work.

Thanks Tim.
I need to just suck it up and get back on the elliptical. It's a major butt kickin' for me, but really, that is what I need. :sad:0 -
Try the bike. I burn more calories doing that and I can read at the same time. I do the elliptical every other day as well as the bike just to change things up.
Good luck0 -
Which bike, the tall one or the short one? The tall one always ends up hurting my back. I tried it and lasted like 10 minutes :laugh:0

While most trainers say to change your routine so your muscles don't retain "muscle memory". It's not as vital for cardio as it is for weight training/resistance training. Muscle Memory leads to muscles becomming more efficient at a specific movement, which is why some kids become so good at a certain video game. When that happens your muscles benefit less from doing that exercise. So change it up a bit, work a different muscle group, and it may help some. But as long as you're working out, I don't think its a game changer.0

Awesome, thanks!0 -
Add some upper body weights and lower body leg lifts. Those muscles you build will help burn calories even when you are resting.
Also - tip for the bike riders...I have noticed my back would hurt on the bike also...specially if I would ride 30 - 45 minutes. I started concentrating on flexing/sucking in my stomach muscles while on the bike and it HELPED A LOT. I know you can't hold them for the entire 30 - 45 minutes but if you just kind of remind yourself every few minutes, it should help you stay on the bike longer. BUT I am no doctor!! Just worked for me.0 -
you can change up your cardio every couple of weeks or increase what you are currently doing by 20%, either will work.0
