Weight Watchers?

I just recently got a new job where they offer a 75% discount to the Weight Watchers program. I am interested in knowing others experience with them and how much information and knowledge they got from them. I want to know more about dieting and how calories, fats, carbs, etc. help and hurt you weight loss. Is this something that they teach you or is it more of a eat our food and you will lose weight type of program? I want this to be a lifestyle change not a diet so I am not interested in a program where once I get off of the program I gain all the weight back. Any information would be great...Thank you

If you do the online only then no it's not worth it because basically it is just paying for what you do here for free.
If you go to meetings and have a good leader then it can be really motivating and you do get some of that type of information you mentioned. There is a lot of how to eat the most amount of crap for the least amount of points mixed in too though. I lost 40 lbs on WW but once I stopped going to meetings I gained it all back. Then I rejoined the online and lost nothing - now I'm here and losing again. When I stopped going to meetings I was working full time, going to school at night and didn't have a lot of time to really focus on eating right & exercising. I did really like the meetings when I had a good leader (I went to some meetings with other leaders and it just wasn't the same experience).0 -
I agree with ready2rock. Maybe join the program and get the information and apply it on this web site. I have been back and forth to WW and found the instructors are just like the people on here who have lost alot of weight. If you are motivated you can do it, just like the rest of us.:happy:0

I did WW years ago right after I had my "baby" I really like it but it was hard for me to make it to the meetings to weigh in and at the time the cost wasn't in the budget. I did really well on WW and they do teach you about portion control & allowing yourself treats.
In fact most of the tips & changes I started this year when I sign on to MFP are ones I learned from WW.
If you can get that kind of discount I would say DO IT!! The people are positive & supportive! And it can't hurt0
