Polar FT7 Not Working

Hello,

My new Polar FT7 just came in the mail today. I was getting ready to try it before my tennis lesson, but it's not picking up my heartbeat at all! I wet the straps as the instructions said. Does anyone have any idea as to why this is happening? I was really excited to try it, but now I'm very disappointed :(

Did you wet the strap under the connections? Mine won't work if it's not wet.

You mean underneath the thing you "click" on? I didn't deliberately get that part wet, but some water did get on it as I was wetting the electrode parts.

The part that goes against your skin... mine will not work unless that is wet (the fabric touching your skin under the part you click on).

Do you leave the strap and click on thing together all the time? If so, take it off the strap when you are done exercising as leaving it attached will cause the battery to constantly be in use and die quickly.

Make sure it is properly put on. The click on part should be right in the middle of your chest (mine is always just under my bra strap).. also if the watch is anymore than about 2-3 feet from the strap it won't pick up the monitor. You are properly attempting to use it right? It won't just start reading your heartbeat once you put on the chest strap. You have to press the middle button on the right side of the watch and wait a few seconds for it to pick it up.

Where did you order it from? Can you return it/exchange it?

My HRM doesn't pick up my heart rate when the battery needs to be replaced. Even though the watch is working, it may still need a new battery to pick up the heart rate. I guess that takes more battery power.

The grey mesh stuff on the backside of where the black transmitter goes is the only part that needs to be wet. The watch needs to be within a few feet of the transmitter and you have to push the start button to get it to pick up your heart rate. Other than that it may be defective.

I don't think it's a battery problem since I JUST ordered it and received it in the mail from Amazon. I read through all the instructions and I pretty much did everything it asked. I guess I will try again with more water in the middle this time :(

wipe the chest strap on the side that touches your skin with a damp wash cloth. Make sure there is plenty of water on it. I have a Polar FT4 and an old Nike and both them don't work if I don't get the straps wet where they touch my skin.

The screen is fine but it won't pick up my heart beat at all.

I actually put the strap under a bit of running water in the sink, so I think it's wet enough? Still not working tho :/

Soak it. and make sure it's tight enough, if it's too lose it won't pick up a reading. adjust it if you need to.

I put all of it under running water and made sure that it's thoroughly soaked, but it STILL won't work! It's tight enough too. I'm beginning to think I should just return it -_-
