Do you ever find yourself not exercising correctly?

What I mean by this: If you know that you need to run to improve your running, do you ever find yourself running some but then going off and doing something else cardio instead?

I need to run two miles in less than 17 minutes and 42 seconds for my job (along with push ups/situps, but I think that I got those licked).

Well, running has ALWAYS been one of my weaknesses and I keep torpedoing myself. Take tonight for example. I needed to run so I went to the Y and ran one mile at the 8 minute pace. Because I felt sick to the stomach, I simply stopped and hopped on the elliptical instead of just slowing down and knocking out 3-4 miles. Now, I got a good workout on the elliptical, but it's me, once again, training for the wrong thing.

How do you deal with? Anyone got any ideas?

    I man up.

I whine in my head while I'm working out but I force myself to keep moving during the whining. By the time I'm 10-20 minutes into my workout I'm too invested to give up.

I just went through that on Saturday...12 mile run. The hardest slowest miles were the first 3 after that I just resigned myself to the fact that I just had to get it done.
