  • I'm not diagnosed with endo at the moment, only suspected but have looked a lot into it.

what could work for one person, doesn't mean it's gonna work for you. some people could cut xyz out of their diet & have a big improvement in their symptoms, where as you could cut the same as they did out of your diet and it could make no difference whatsoever.

if I'm wrong, someone correct me. surely it'd be easier to try find out what foods for best for YOU (or worse) instead of other people?
  • I too have Endometriosis and have looked into foods which can aggravate symptoms. There is "The Endo Diet" but if I'm honest, I've heard it's hard to keep to and doesn't work for a lot of people.

know myself that I need to avoid pizza for example - it aggravates my symptoms by flaring up my IBS which is secondary to Endo - you learn what you can and can't have.

I've heard an anti-inflammatory diet helps alleviate the pain for some people. If you're strict, I think it means cutting out sugar, red meat, dairy, gluten, etc, etc. Some people say eggs too, but I've seen differing opinions on that. I did pretty well with it for awhile and had no pain, but it's hard to keep it up when you like to go out to eat or visit friends. The last few days have been filled with a lot of red meat and white bread for me and I paid for it with pain last night. I think I'm going to try cutting out the sugars and gluten for awhile and see if it helps again. Really, by cutting those things, I'm eating way more fresh fruits, vegetables and lean meats, so that part can't be bad!

I have never heard of any diet that helps with endometriosis pain - If i had to guess I would say lower fats, and just any general healthy diet that would cause weight reduction

I'm not sure how potassium or mag supplements are supposed to help with endometriosis.

If you have IBS and endometriosis then thats a different story - my advice would be to just eat clean and in a way that will reduce your weight (which you are probably already doing since you are on here) and if something you eat happens to upset you then just avoid that in the future.

I am not aware of any diet that can affect endometriosis pain. I do know that birth control pills can help keep endometriosis from growing/spreading. Since my surgery for endometriosis, the pills have helped keep it at bay.

I have endometriosis that causes very bad pain - it's mostly on the back of my uteris. I've had a lap and I'm currently doing Lupron Depot injections.

I've seen those 'endo diets' online and those haven't helped at all in the past. for me.

I follow a 'low carb' diet - basically meaing I try to avoid sugar and process carbs I guess you'd say basically I avoid junk food - It seems like if I avoid the flour and sugar and breads for some reason it makes me not get the pain as bad. Drinking lots of water also seems to help. An alchohol binge can also set me off. This all might just be me and in my head but i'm convinced this is all helping.

EXERCISE seems to be a big important thing that helps. If I have a weekend where I dont exercise - and eat pizza and drink beer - you can bet I'll get an episode of extreme pain.

But all that is to help BEFORE you get a bad pain episode. At least in my case. If I'm in pain i'm not going to be heading for the gym or go a day without eating junk and expect that to instantly help.

Also if you haven't discovered this (I've had this pain for over 10 years and didn't discover this until maybe the last 4) A hot bath frequently really really really helps. Also if I'm in pain and take a hot bath it seems to make the pain last a shorter amount of time. I will also take hot baths as a preventative measure. Dunno if it helps but maybe some sort of placebo effect lol. A heating pad can also be invaluable.

I was told 'primrose evening oil' supplements can help too - I take them but I have no idea if they help or not.

:( Endometrosis is the devil :(

p.s. THis is true as well ^ I'm sure what's worked for me is just me and years of experimenting with how my body handles things ... try everything and you'll find a way to manage the pain.
