Does anyone know what the normal intake of soduim per-day is? I am trying to keep on a low soduim diet and I know I do pretty well already.

Max 2300 mg. Less is better

I would agree to keep sodium lower like 1800mg, but 2300 is the national recommendation for maximum sodium intake

the nurses in the heart failur center that I work in say 2300 or lower for normal healthy heart...of course, it is much more restricted for those with heart failure. they did tell me thou you could go to low with sodium and it could effect cognitive function of the brain. I am not a clinician so I don't know specific details. Just htought I would throw that out.
