Acne and organic milk!

Right, so I developed cystic acne when I was 14 and I've suffered with it on and off since!
I have tried EVERYTHING including a number of contraceptive pills, laser treatment, antibiotics, expensive washes and creams, benzyl peroxide, dietary changes/experiments etc etc...
Everything!
Two years ago I majorly cut out dairy and switched to soy milk, convinced that my love of dairy was causing my skin flare ups after reading about six different anti meat/dairy books on nutrition. I even gave up all meat apart from fish around the same time.
It didn't really help that much...and although my skin improved, it could have been down to the fact that I was eating a much healthier diet all round!
Also, soy milk is highly GMO & processed.
Well since January first I've been trying something new...eating only organic dairy and organic meats along with my regular diet (WHOLE organic milk at that, and not low fat). I read a TON about how the hormones added to the milk and NOT the milk itself could have been causing my skin troubles.
Guess what? My skin has never looked as good as it does right now! I haven't even got any mini pimples...it is COMPLETELY clear!
<- picture for proof with simply a light coating of tinted moisturizer
Thought I'd share in case this could help anybody.

SOME OTHER TIPS, guys:
Use coconut oil and jojoba oil on your skin instead of chemical filled moisturizers...they are amazing for your skin.
AND drink lots of water and green tea :happy:0 -

Have you read the clear skin diet? Promotes a similar way of eating. Although I recommend reading it with a critical eye as it does promote supplements. It is supported by Genuine Health, a company whose products I love, but I didn't find I needed additional products when I was eating well.0

Sweetie not all soy milk is GMO, obvisiously you didn't do enough research.0

All the ones I could afford most certainly were. I wasn't willing to pay three euro each time I needed soy milk for non-GMO as I'm broke! Now I can buy organic milk for one euro and it has given me amazing results. I do a lot of research, and it still seems to be up in the air about the effects of soy on hormones...another thing that put me off it.0 -

I wouldn't say it's that up in the air about soy photoestrogens. I would think that animal estrogen would have more of an affect on you since it's from an animal which you are are more closely related to.
I had issues with acne too and switched to soy and almond milk and I don't get any acne anymore. I did try organic milk at one time, but that did not help. It must be a person by person result.0 -
Hey, you're not the only one. I also have had horrible acne, and up until recently I have never had truly clear skin. It is true that I have adjusted things in my lifestyle over all (skin care routine, makeup, better hygiene of things that come in contact with skin, birth control etc.) but I noticed that my skin completely cleared when I stopped drinking regular 2% milk and switched to whole organic milk. I am pretty convinced that this is part of the problem and is also a solution (for me at least). I drink regular 2% milk at my parents when I go home for winter break, and my skin broke out again (and that was the ONLY thing that changed in my lifestyle choices). I started drinking organic whole milk once the break was over, and my skin cleared up instantly. People want to nay say, but if something works and you have removed and put it back in to test it out-then hey it works.0

That's great! I'm glad you've found a way to get rid of your cystic acne.
I've struggled with cystic acne for 4 years now and have tried many different meds and topical treatments without any success. Lately I've cut back on milk, well dairy in general and have been experiencing less breakouts. I drink tons of water, green tea, and eat plenty of fruits and veggies. I really believe that the cure lies in very healthy and consistent eating habits.0 -

Someone said "coconut oil" on skin. It is good, but it is oily. If you already have oily skin, you'll be an oily mess. That said, try grapeseed oil on the skin instead. It is not an oily oil and it is designed to clear up acne. It sounds funny that an oil, clears up pimples and acne, but it does. It has anti-oxidents in it. Google it. I read this one day and was broken out (used to break out a lot). I was so broken out one day, I thought okay, here I go, this grapeseed oil, better work, because I can't get worse. I was scared. All my skin issues cleared up in two days and I haven't broken out like that sense. LOVE IT. I even put it in my hair (just a trace) as a serum.
p.s. I do use coconut oil on my skin too (but only my body and at night. As I said it is really oily. If I used it on my face, I found it never absorbed fully and my make up slid right off or melted away quickly due to the oil.0 -
I've heard that diet only plays a really small part, but acne is mostly attributed to genes and hormones (though I do agree you about the organic milk vs regular milk). I have a diet that is at least 60-70% organic and I still get some acne usually around the time TOM is approaching (when my hormones are out of whack). The acne comes at the same time every month like clockwork, so that leads me to believe it's hormone-related rather than diet (for me personally, anyhow).0
