Please help! - Re exercise and am I eating too much?

I am 5'5 - very active. I am around 130-135 pounds (have had history and binge eating and still do fall of the wagon, maybe its because i eat very little for days then eat lots to refuel so usually bloated and feeling urrg). I have a muscley athletic figure.

So i want to lose 1 pound a week - Calorie count set me a target of 1200.

Today for example I have walked to work which is 4.5 miles there and then back, and i do this in just shy of 1hr 10 each way which is say around 4ph - equalling 709 calorie burn.

I will also walk on lunch to the shops around a 30 minute walk but probably at a slower pace of 3mph so 100 cals burn.

I also have crossfit class tonight - high intensity which is 45 minutes log and i log at 400 cals.

So today my target is a whooping 2423 to eat - can i really eat of of these? I am a very hungry person and its probably the reason I binge as i try to restrict so bad.

Please help if you have any input it would be great!!

xx

Yes, you really can and very much should be eating all those calories! You binge when you are hungry. So eat up!

The second thing I noticed was that you are quite lean trying to get leaner...and you set your goal at 1 pound per week. This is probably a bit high. I'm also 5'5" tall. I weigh around 140 right now. When I am eating at my personal sweet spot for fat loss, I lose slower than 1 pound per week. Sure, sometimes it is more than that or is exactly that...but the point is, when you have such a very small amount of calories to work with as a deficit, it's better to go slower because you don't want to risk losing more lean muscle mass as you lose the fat. Keeping lean mass on your physique while you lose body fat is more difficult for people starting out smaller which is why the deficit needs to be smaller.
  • Thanks for this.

I think i just needed some clarifcation and some reassurance.

It feels so wrong eating so many calories when people on here eat so little.

Yes i am quite lean, i have very muscley legs from cycling most days (walking at the moment due to snow!).

Thanks for just saying 'YES' - In my head i think 2400 calories is a mini binge but i suppose it isnt as ive earnt them! xx

you may want to try splitting your calories up into 5 or 6 small meals to keep your blood sugar even so you don't get hungry and binge.
  • @Goteammeagham - Yes i am splitting them up and trying to eat every 2-3 hours! Thanks for the tip!
