No change in sex life. If anything, it's better because there is no more pain.

If you still have ovaries then you are still ovulating, meaning hormonal fluctuations will be no different than those of a woman with her uterus intact. (The ovary is still the major source of estrogen and progesterone and they are still being produced in a cyclic manner). This will continue until you run out of oocytes to ovulate (menopause).

    ETA I haven't had one, I'm a reproductive biologist.

I had a hysterectomy and removal of one ovary December 5. I can still feel the hormonal fluctuations, including bloating and weight gain. The difference is that without menstruating, I can't keep up with exactly when it will happen. I used to track my cycle on an app on my phone. Once my period started, I could predict when the next round would occur. Because my cycle was never perfect, I had to wait until one started to predict for the next month. Now I don't have that marker, but I can pretty well tell what is happening when it hits.

It is great not to have the cramps and mess. Definitely the right choice for me. Unpredictability of pms is a minor complaint for me.

Yep, this week would have been period week. I can tell because my breasts are lumpy and hurt so bad! Hopped on the scale this morning for my weekly weigh in and only dropped .2 pounds. Stupid hormones and bloating! Oh well, hopefully next week will make up for it.

I had my hysterectomy when I was 28 (16 years ago) and they left my ovaries. Yes, I had symptoms early on, but now I don't have any problems at all. I did gain weight...which is why I am here!
