Hi
I am thinking of going to circuit training tonight, but have never done it. I go to Zumba a few times a week and also go to the gym on the weights and treadmill but think I don't push myself enough... I am tried and red in the face when I stop but I think that it's easy to convince yourself you have done more than you have, were as in a class full of people I just might continue for a bit longer.
I have phoned the gym and they said it was suitable for all levels but I am still nervous about it. I weight 192lbs and am 5 ft 2".

The question is how hard is it........

I love circuit training, I started my weight loss journey doing Zumba, but I got bored with it quickly, so I started doing Jillian Michaels, Extreme Shed and Shred, Burn Fat, Boost Metabolism and a few others. Now I'm doing Turbo Fire, which I definitely could not have done if I hadn't already done the circuit training. BTW when I started I weighed around 265, so I think you're good. Just make sure they have a low impact exercise for anything you do not feel comfortable doing. I have bad knees, so the plyo moves were out. Good luck.

It really depends on the trainer leading the class and the type of cardio that you are doing since you already do weights. At the Planet Fitness that I go to they have the circuit room and it is 10 weight and 10 step stations. I choose to use about 4 of the steps and do high knees or mountain climbers in the other cardio spots because I like that over the same thing 10 times in a row.
When the people take the class they get into these crazy moves on the steps and I am not overly coordinated so I skip the class, but it will make you a bit tired the first few times if you are not accustomed to it and then you will get used to it after a bit. You can pretty much see if you are pushing yourself hard enough by heart rate which is a good indicator though. Good luck!

I do a boot camp with is 20 stations of either weights, body weight, or cardio for one minute each-3 times around. I think it's similar and I am a big girl. I can do it. It's hard and she (trainer) makes it harder every week but doable.
  • Circuit training is brilliant...I went yesterday :D The gym is great but circuits incorporate strength and cardio for great HIIT. It is hard but you only get out of it, what you put in.

Well, went to Circuit training and it was very good. Only one exercise station had weight bars but other stations were making you use your own weight as resistance.
But altogether very good and I will be going again. Really unusual to have a mixed class of men and woman as I usally go to Zumba etc which tends to be all woman. Trying spinning next heres hoping.
