I've been on MFP for 4 months, lost 18lbs, have been learning tons about BMR, TDEE and glycemic load. Started because I wanted to make a lifestyle change where I eat and exercise regularly. Was inspired by my brother in law, who lost 40+ lbs using MFP and exercising with his video game consoles.
Right now I walk, swim, use cardio and weight machines as well as free weights. I eat 4-6 times a day and try my best to eat less processed food. I'm trying my best to not eat the same things repeatedly so I don't get sick of them. I talk about this process often with a bunch of my friends and family because they are in the same boat.
Admittedly, I'm a little obsessed. It's to be expected as I am still in that stage of making this a regular part of my life. Even at 4 months, this is all pretty new. Dieting isn't new to me; I've been on and off them most of my life. Integrating it into my life, that part is new.
According to BMI, I have about 120lbs to lose. That's a whole freaking person. Or 1.3 gymnasts. My goal right now is to lose 1.5lbs per week. I'm not doing bad with that for the moment.
If I can make this change stick, I could lose up to 78lbs this year. I'm gonna need some help. I need some friends who are like minded, serious about weight loss, who like food and are finding ways to eat yummy and healthy, with a sense of humor. I know there will be plateaus and I will work around them, through them, whatever. Besides, everything is better with a buddy.
